Understand AI

Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly present in our culture and creative spaces. This panel brings together experts from technology, arts, and digital culture to unpack AI in a way that is grounded, and relevant to artists and creatives.

Panelists will explore what AI actually is, how it differs from previous technologies, and a brief history of how it was developed. The discussion will break down different types of AI, including generative and non-generative systems, and how AI systems are currently being used across visual art, music, writing, film, and design.

This session centres you, the artist, as an active participant in shaping how these tools are understood, adopted, resisted, or reimagined. You will leave with a clearer understanding of the technology, the language around it, and the confidence to engage more fully, critically and creatively in the AI conversation.
